I am currently a social entrepreneur as founder of SMAC Sock Monkeys Against Cancer. I began my career in as a general assignment TV news reporter for KMTV-Channel , the CBS affiliate in Omaha, Nebraska. After three years in the news business, I transitioned to the other side - public relations - where I became press secretary for Omaha Mayor Hal Daub. In , Mayor Daubs approval rating among the voters of Omaha was at . Nearly years later, despite his losing bid for re-election, my team helped catapult the Mayors approval rating to nearly among Omaha voters. Following my political stint, I jumped into agency life, where I built a public relations department at Ervin Smith Public Relations and Advertising in Omaha from zero to four full-time employees in nine months. I was privileged to work on prominent accounts, such as Ameritrade (now TD Ameritrade), Lindsay Manufacturing, HearthStone Homes, among others. I moved to Swanson Russell, Nebraska's largest advertising, public relations, communications firm in as Public Relations Counsel. I was promoted to public relations manager at Swanson Russell associates due to existing client and new business growth. I created a public relations department (Omaha office) from zero to five full-time employees in three years. I provided PRsocial media strategy development and execution of comprehensive public relations programs, primarily in consumer and business-to-business categories, for a wide variety of clients, such as Land O Lakes Purina Mills, Schering-Plough Animal Health, Creighton University Medical Center, Sergeant's Pet Care Products, Inc., among others.
