While I've spent many years shepherding software and service development and deployment projects, the best role I've played to date is as a cleaner. Like Mr. Wolf in Pulp Fiction or Victor in La Femme Nikita. Something wrong? See a problem? Need someone to come in and get things done? That might be me. I'm best in this role when I'm there to support a customer. To go to bat for a customer, to represent requirements, needs, and pains to engineering, development, or management. I move effortlessly between technical and non-technical groups, removing roadblocks and making tactical plans that teams can use to move forward. Sometimes this means being the beast of burden, but sometimes it means leading the way. My communication style is firm and direct but you can put me in front of customers. I'm technical enough to translate their needs to software engineers, but not so much that I can't empathize with them. I'm detail oriented to the nth degree, but that's only so the customer's big picture needs are addressed. I've done my homework when I can anticipate their pains and medicate before they've noticed. And I speak up when something isn't right. So, if you're looking for someone to do something you can't quite describe in a job description, take a look at my history. Specialties I get things done. Really. Like gathering business requirements, documenting customer requirements, capturing and mapping business data flows, writing project plans and scope and approach documents, writing training scope and approach documents, reviewing and editing technical specifications and design documents, establishing project baselines and reporting services, beta testing, ordering and fulfillment of collateral, and everything that isn't getting done by anyone else.
