Born and raised in Cuba, Mariela studied Communications at Duke University before earning her masters degree in Writing and Literature from Bennington College. During her eight-year tenure as Senior Editor for a leading online media company (Batanga.com), she produced bilingual content for online marketing campaigns for high profile clients including Jeep, Kraft Foods, Wal-Mart, McDonalds, Garnier, and Chevy. Currently, she is the president of Perez-Simons Web Studios, a company she created in 2008 to provide web design and online marketing services to small and mid-sizes companies.
