I study the making and marketing of American and British fiction after the composition process, the circumstances of publication, and the dynamics of reception. I am attracted to texts that evolve across formats and in turn reach new readers. My current book project explores magazine stories revised to create fiction collections resembling novels. I also examine how readers and publishers today adapt to digital formats developed in response to the limitations and pleasures of print.
