Steve Holt has led a diverse life. In music, he studied at McGill University, graduating as McGill's first-ever Bachelor of Music majoring in jazz performance . He travelled to New York to study with world-renowned pianist Kenny Barron. Nominated for a JUNO award (Canadian version of a GRAMMY) in 1983, and built an international reputation as one of Canada's premier Jazz pianists. Worked with Archie Shepp, Larry Coryell, Eddie Henderson, James Moody, Eddie "Cleanhead" Vinson, Michel Urbaniak, and others. In 2002 won Honourable Mention at the USA Songwriting Competition, the largest songwriting competition in the world. He has 6 CDs and 3 singles to his credit. During those years, Steve was Senior Equity Analyst at several of the largest investment banks in Canada, becoming the #1 ranked consumer analyst in Canada by 1999, a keynote speaker at conferences, and appearing on national TV. In his later years he became a competitive bodybuilder and fitness guru. Holds 8 bodybuilding championship titles. Steve has been a vegetarian for 30 years, rare in bodybuilding where a diet rich in red meat is common. He is a lifetime natural bodybuilder having never used anabolic steroids.
