I have worked as a software developer and technologist since the late s. In , I became a self-employed software development consultant, working with many companies as the Internet began booming. Over time, I was involved with many teams of geographically-distributed independent consultants, working together on client projects. Coming from a strong software development process background, I began setting up source code control repositories for these teams so we could work together more effectively. Out of this was born SourceHosting.net - the first Internet-based hosted source code repository service. The primary focus of the service is on small and medium-sized companies who don't have the inclination to set this up for themselves. Our clients are often working toward their initial product launch and don't need any additional tasks to keep them from that goal. Fast forward to late , and I was introduced to the configuration management software "Puppet" by a colleague. After a brief introduction to the concepts behind it, I quickly realized how powerful it is and how it could help streamline and automate the many tasks required to run services like SourceHosting.net and others. I became heavily involved in the Puppet user community in , attending PuppetConf ', and becoming a Puppet Certified Professional. This led me to launch a new consulting business named Devopsify.us in alongside SourceHosting.net. The goal of Devopsify.us is assisting and mentoring clients with their first steps towards a more automated and reliable deployment architecture. Specialties Internet technologies of all kinds, cloud-based services, Puppet, FreeBSD, Linux, operating systems in general, VMware and other virtualization platforms, software development, web applications, source code control processes and practices
