Kelsey Hall is currently working as an assistant professor in agricultural journalism and communication at Utah State University. She teaches ASTE , ASTE and JCOM . Kelsey graduated with a doctorate in agricultural education, with an interest in agricultural communications, at Texas Tech University in August . During her time at Texas Tech, she taught ACOM Scientific Communications in Agriculture and Natural Resources and ACOM Communicating Agriculture to the Public. In June , Kelsey was recognized for her teaching ability through the Graduate Student Teaching Award from the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture. Kelsey's research focuses in two areas included in the National Research Agenda American Association for Agricultural Educations Research Priority Areas for -. Her primary research focuses on Research Priority Area Vibrant, Resilient Communities. Within this priority area, her research projects design and test models for increasing civic engagement and social capital in local communities through the local food movement (farmers markets, community supported agriculture, direct-to-retail businesses). Kelsey also determines the effects technology use and communication methods have on citizen engagement in the local food movement. Kelsey's second research focus deals with Research Priority Area Meaningful, Engaged Learning in All Environments. Her investigation within this priority area is to develop and assess various learning interventions and delivery technologies that increase higher order thinking through student writing. Kelsey is a native of Ohio where her interest in Standardbred harness racing and journalism led her to a career in agricultural communications.
