I was born and raised in Southern Africa, namely Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Namibia. Once I graduated from school I left Africa to travel the world and have lived, worked and visited many exotic and wonderful countries over the years. Of all the different countries I visited and fell in love with, I decided to make the United States my permanent home. Growing up in Africa was a wondrous experience. My days were spent with the natives on our farm in Zimbabwe, carving wooden and soap-stone figurines of the animals and exotic creatures making clay pots from the rich red earth and then firing them in the outside fire place that heated our hot water tank. I learned to weave baskets with the exotic grasses and paint pictures with the natural pigments of nature. We made batik wall hangings with candle-wax and the red mud, adding crushed berries and wildly bugs to add more vibrant colors. Those simple pleasures are what made me who I am today.
