Promoting and supporting parents is something I have found to be both personally and professionally rewarding. My venture into publishing started in 1991 after I became frustrated in my search for a good shoe store for my young daughter. I soon realized that the Washington metropolitan area lacked a good resource for busy family women as well as busy professional women with children.Thus, in 1992, Washington FAMILY Magazine was born in the basement of my home with a circulation of 18,000. Today, with a monthly circulation of 100,000, Washington FAMILY Magazine is the largest parenting publication in the Mid-Atlantic region and the third largest in the United States. In 1997 I started a second publication, Jacksonville FAMILY Magazine, which serves the Jacksonville, Florida region. FAMILY Magazine began offering Franchise Systems for the magazine in 2007. I also serve as the Chairman of the Board for the Children?s Museum of Northern Virginia (CMNOVA). CMNOVA is focused on making math and science fun with exploration and hands on activities for children. I have four wonderful children and two terrific grandchildren.
