Eighteen years of litigation experience in numerous areas of the law. Most recently, was a Partner at the firm of Newman Raiz, L.L.C., representing numerous insurance companies as clients, and concentrating in insurance coverage litigation, declaratory judgments on behalf of insurer, interpleaders, appeals and defense of section 155 claims. Began career as a sole practioner, representing a wide variety of clients in areas including personal injury, workers compensation, criminal defense, residential real estate transactions, commercial contract litigation, and appeals. Published legal opinions include the Illinois Supreme Court case of People v. Placek, 184 Ill. 2d 370 (1998) and American Service Ins. Co.v Franchini, 396 Ill. App. 3d 413 (1st Dist. 2009). Currently, a member of the Historic Preservation Commission for the City of Lake Forest and a past member of its Zoning Board of Appeals. Has served as an arbitrator for the Mandatory Arbitration program in the Circuit Court of Cook County and the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit, and was an Adjunct Professor at Harry S Truman College in Chicago, teaching Civil Procedure and Real Estate law.
