NOTE TO RECRUITERS I'm not interested today. Thanks. Please respect this decision. Hi I'm a systems engineer formerly of Amazon, and currently working at Nitrous.IO. I write programs pretty regularly in Ruby, debug Ruby programs often, patch up Java codebases occasionally, and open source my code as liberally as possible. Most of my experience is in administering and building out web services. I write mostly in Ruby and bash, though I write a ton of stuff in Python, too. Would like to write more stuff in lower level languages, like C, Java, or Go (haven't gotten around to it yet, maybe I'll force myself to do it sometime soon.) I can read Java and C just fine, though likely slower than other folks. I write most configuration management stuff in Chef, though I'm pretty easy with Puppet as well. Large, inherently unreliable systems are my thing. DISTRIBUTED SYSTEMS FOR PRESIDENT (I am learning more about distributed systems every day, however - lots of what I'm learning is from a 'bottom-up' understanding of problems as they come along, vs. a top-down complete view of stuff. But hey, my second term will be amazing trust me on this) You can see me rant on httpredbluemagenta.com.
