If you don't value looking to alternatives, asking if each piece of work is important, and you don't understanding that the plan might change as a result of collaboration within a meeting... don't invite me to be part of your company. What kinds of problems do I like I can tackle engineering problems that haven't been accomplished before or apply well known good patterns to existing problems to make long needed improvements. I currently am loving working to leverage concurrency and async patterns to interact with the latest relational and nosql technologies to create near real time monitoring systems. Management I've managed a large team ( N ) and own long term strategy, own interaction with customers to help us ensure our strategy is well aligned with market needs, and I can manage the growth and health of the org. I've lead small teams () and dev while leading and own growth and health of the individuals, contribute to long term strategy for the business, and add value in pre-sales with customers. I prefer to live in a world of coding or a world of management. Mixing the two and popping up and down the stack can create significant context switching overload. A position that is in transition is fine as long as there is a goal state with a timeline defined. Organization I've lived in both a small startup world (grown office from to and back down again), and worked in the large corporate world of Microsoft (large growth enterprise company of k employees grew to k employees). I am at home in either with the ability to adapt style to achieve consensus and push projects forward. Given a choice the preference is a smaller person company and am currently consulting with multiple smaller startups of people from (literally) my garage office.
