Dane Palmer is a Marimbist/percussionist currently living in Cleveland, OH. Originally from southeast Wisconsin, he has performed throughout the midwestern and eastern United States. Dane is a dedicated performer and educator. He is a passionate educator working with students of all ages and his performance career is varied as he juggles his work in the studio, on stage, and in pit orchestras. As an educator, Dane has taught through Baldwin-Wallace’s Conservatory outreach as the student percussion instructor. He is also a founding member of The Front Street Percussion Quartet, who focus on educational tours of rural schools in central and eastern Kentucky. As a pit musician, Dane has performed for shows such as The Phantom of the Opera, Parade, Lippa’s Wild Party, Orpheus and the Underworld and Baldwin-Wallace’s nationally recognized productions of Rent and La Boheme in repertoire. Dane has performed with the post-pop group, Red Beard, as the drummer since it’s birth in 2007, and has done studio work as the percussionist with them and other groups in the Cleveland area. An advocate for new music, Dane acted for two years as music director and conductor of l(a contemporary music ensemble, a student-run new music group in residence at Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, OH. He has also premiered many works by student composers from Baldwin-Wallace College. Dane is currently pursuing his M.M. in Marimba Performance at The Boston Conservatory as a student of Nancy Zeltsman, Keith Aleo, John Grimes and Samuel Z. Solomon. He holds a B.M. from Baldwin-Wallace College where he studied with Josh Ryan.
