My contributions to SpaceX have been in software and hardware design related to launch operations I focused both in the implementation and management of those efforts. I developed and managed the ground software that has been used for all SpaceX launches starting with the historic inaugural launch of Falcon . The ground software is a suite of applications that include the launch operator control screens, back-end automation and control logic, telemetry acquisition, and data streaming programs. This system controls the launch pad, rocket, and spacecraft during all propellant load and countdown operations, including both test and launch activities. That project provided avenues for refining both big-picture architecting and long-term planning skills. As well, it required the ability to interface effectively with personnel in every department in the company. I was responsible for delivering innovative solutions on a tight development schedule with a team of minimal complement. Moving at a rapid pace necessitated decisive action, required clear communication, and often required solving problems with a non-conventional approach. Following that, I took responsibility for the hardware side of the data acquisition and control aspects of our launch control system. For the first Falcon v. flight out of Launch Complex , I developed evolutionary design improvements and managed extensive re-work following the final v. flight. The new design drastically reduced support and activation efforts, streamlined and consolidated electronic documentation, and enforced commonality in areas that previously lacked it. Simultaneously, I began work on a revolutionary improvement by trading different design approaches and hardware manufacturers - looking towards our future site designs. These efforts concluded with a successful pitch for a distributed command and control system design and a new data acquisition hardware manufacturer for Launch Complex A.
