Mark Palmer, STCs president and principal consultant, has been a leader in the asset tracking sector of the transportation industry for over ten years. In August of , as director of trailer operations for J.B. Hunt Transport, Mark began managing Hunts , unit roll out of asset tracking in its dry van fleet. He virtually wrote the book on the implementation of trailer tracking into large fleets and the process improvements required for realization of return on investment. Mark then took his unique experience as a former fleet operator and leader of complex technology rollouts to the vendor side as Vice President, Business Development at Terion, Inc. At Terion Mark developed the Segment and Analyze model that allows fleet operators to better understand the dynamic flow of trailing assets through the supply chain. General Electric saw the potential in asset tracking and bought Terion in continuing Marks role as asset tracking industry expert and operations consultant. In March of Mark started Strategic Transportation Consultants, LLC to help transportation leaders sort through the varied and complicated world of asset tracking products and vendors, guide them through the implementation process and discover ways to achieve rapid return on investment. At STC Mark developed PATSI, the Palmer Asset Tracking Solution Index. PATSI is a customized solution grading system that breaks down key attributes of tracking products, websites and the vendors themselves based on the clients project objectives and performance requirements. PATSI takes the guesswork out of choosing an asset tracking solution. Mark's analytical approach to choosing tracking solutions, applying the technology to trailing fleet operations and pool management and utilizing tracking data to find and remove bottlenecks in the supply chain can make fleets more efficient and profitable.
