She was a member of Wandsworth London Borough Council from 2006 to 2012. She was elected at the 2015 general election as the first Conservative MP as well as the first female MP to represent the Telford constituency, and was re-elected in 2017, with a majority of 720 votes or 1.6% and again in 2019, with an increased majority of 25.6%.
