As the rest of my Linked in site shows, I started off as a writer and soon realized I am an educator. I am now working as the vice-principal at Bellefonte Area Middle School. It is a great opportunity with a great school district. As the vice-principal at Bellefonte Area Middle School, I focus on developing relationships with students and working with our staff and faculty in different formats. The students are our first priority, so I spend a great deal of time meeting with students for academic and disciplinary reasons. My duties regarding the staff are diverse, and I enjoy working with them very much. This is my second position at Bellefonte Area School District. I also recently became the coordinator of the BASD district newsletter and calendar, which are aspects of our district's public relations efforts. Prior to working as an educational leader, I taught English for over six years at School District of Lancaster, an urban school district in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. At SDoL, I taught everything from Advanced Placement Literature and Composition to Read . I piloted the Advanced Placement program at McCaskey East High School, sat on various committees, and was the advisor for our chapter of the National Honor Society. Before entering the field of Education, I worked as a newspaper reporter. Although I only spent a brief amount of time in the position, I learned a lot about writing clear messages and interviewing people. It was definitely time well spent, and I am glad I had the opportunity to do it.
