I have been a journalist since graduating from the Annenberg School of Communication at the University of Pennsylvania in . I started my career as a staff reporter at The Dominion Post (bureau chief), The Miami Herald (assistant editor), and New Miami magazine (associate editor, where I won awards from the Florida Magazine Association for feature and column writing). In I studied for my masters in educational leadership at GWU, and worked as the senior publications coordinator in the Office of Enrollment Management. In January I launched my freelance career working for The Washington Post, USA Today, and other alumni, association, general interest, and education publications. I write book reviews for the Costco Connection, artist profiles for elan magazine, and cover high-profile speakers at the National Press Club. Then, in , I decided to try my hand at PR. My first clients included the City of Fairfax School (where I won writing awards for the newsletter I created, Close-Up) the futurist research and consulting firm Social Technologies (where I got my clients quoted in BusinessWeek, Entrepreneur, Forbes, Foreign Policy, MSNBC, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Washingtonian, the CBS Early Show, ABC News-Channel , and the Fox Business Report). In the spring of , I incorporated Inkandescent Public Relations, a PR media relations marketing and website design firm that creates marketing materials, produces events, reaches out to the media, and ghost writes placed articles and books for our clients. In January we launched Be Inkandescent magazine for entrepreneurs www.beinkandescent.com and in August we launched www.InkandescentNetworking.com, which lists events and links professionals in east coast cities. In , we created www.InkandescentSpeakers.com, a bureau of professionals who offer best business practices and we published the first Inkandescent Rulebook, "PR Rules The Playbook."
