I have been a child safety campaigner since the murder of my 9-year-old daughter, Amber Hagerman, in 1996. The case remains unsolved. In 1996 I announced an effort to toughen laws for sex offenders.Amber?s murder inspired the creation of the AMBER Alert and the "Amber Hagerman Child Protection Act". Among the sections of the bill was one that would create a national sex offender registry. I testified before Congress so the nationwide registry could be formed.I am a member of the Board of Directors for the Amber's Tiponi Foundation which provides services to victims of abduction and sexual abuse and their family members. I am very pleased to be a part of it's formation.I am also the Vice President of Amber Child Safety Systems, LLC. I know there are a lot of companies out there using my child's name to market their products, but this is the only one that has my permission to use Amber's name, it?s the only one I BELIEVE IN?. This is the one thing no parent should be without. I am so proud to be a part of this. When a child goes missing a parent can't think of all the details. All they can think about is getting their child back.
