Donald S. Farner

Donald Sankey Farner was an American ornithologist. He received his BS from Hamline University, and his MA and PhD from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He served in the Navy's Medical Service Cread more...orps in World War II and later retired with the rank of captain. He was president of the American Ornithologists' Union from 1973 to 1975. Donald Thorn Farley Jr. was an American physicist and Professor of Engineering at Cornell University who pioneered the use of radar remote sensing of the earth's ionosphere. About 80 percent of all ionospheric radio scientists in the United States who practice incoherent scatter were trained by Farley, or by his students. Farley was the J. Preston Levis Professor of Engineering at Cornell University.
