Parents of a minor retained my firm with regard to the death of their minor child who had been placed in a youth shelter by a Florida court. The minor has threatened to hang himself with a belt from a bunk bed. The facility failed to use due care to assure that the minor had no access to a belt. Tragically the minor did carry through on his threat which led to his tragic and untimely demise. Litigation ensued and the matter was settled in Mediation. I will always remember and never forget the courage and tenacity of the parents in the face of this unspeakable tragedy.
