David Brodie is the Vice President, Western Canada at Citizen Optimum with responsibility for providing strategic communications advice for a wide range of corporate, government and not- for- profit clients, as well as leading Citizen Optimums Canadian Social Media practice group. His work at Citizen Optimum has included overseeing campaigns for organizations such as the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs, the British Foreign Commonwealth Office, Tourism British Columbia and the Government of British Columbia, as well as managing successful projects for well known international brands including GAP, Future Shop, General Mills, Canada Post, and BuildDirect, the worlds leading online wholesaler of building materials. He has extensive experience in crisis communications, media training and marketing PR and an in-depth understanding of social media and online advocacy. Prior to joining Citizen Optimum David served in the Office of the Prime Minister as the Senior Special Assistant for Northern and Western Canada, with responsibility for both policy issues management as well as the operational aspects of leading prime ministerial tours and events across the region. He has worked on the organizing committees for meetings of APEC, the G-, G- and the Commonwealth and has planned and executed large scale media events in every province and territory in Canada, as well as throughout Asia, Europe, the U.S., and Mexico. David studied Political Science at the University of Alberta and is a member of the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS). He volunteers with several community organizations including the Canadian Red Cross, Ronald McDonald House Charities and the Ship for World Youth Alumni Association.
