Having lived in and between San Francisco, New Orleans, Washington D.C., and Philadelphia, I have pursued photography with a passion for historical tenor, creative composition, and promoting inquiry and change. Though I started out with the intent of becoming a National Geographic and Smithsonian photographer, since 1998, I have developed my own visual aesthetic through engaging in self-initiated documentary, editorial, fine art, portrait, live performance, and progressive advocacy photography. As a result, I am deeply invested in my subjects, my experiences, the topic at-hand, and in producing work that is both provocative and affective. My thematic work began with an extensive exploration of Burning Man culture in the early 2000s, assembling an intimate portrait of the cross-section of creatives, eccentrics, and communities who inhabit the urban underground, and immersing myself in a two-1/2 year chronicle of New Orleans and its residents following the devastation visited upon them by Hurricane Katrina. Thus far, my images have been published in the likes of The Village Voice and Lenswork Magazine, my prints have been purchased for the permanent collections of The Louisiana State Museum and The Historic New Orleans' Collection, my journalistic ethic has been lauded by faculty from universities such as Columbia and Stanford, my advocacy has been recognized by The Institute For Southern Studies and the German Parliament, and my talents commissioned by the likes of The Ogden Museum of Southern Art and the Burning Man, LLC. In an effort to publish the first of my many book projects in queue, I am beginning the process by editing the many thousands of images I have acquired from my New Orleans experience while developing my online persona and professional network.
