For the past two decades, Carla has worked with companies, non-profit organizations and consumers in the U.S. Hispanic community and in Latin America. She is Co-Founder of Bixal, an (a) certified, minority-owned small business and prime contractor that provides web strategy, communications and web and mobile technology development services. Prior to co-founding Bixal, she worked on Sprint Nextels Hispanic corporate website where she managed and grew the Hispanic eCommerce Team and provided leadership on three major Web initiatives. Carlas unique career path includes directing a nonprofit program for recent Latino immigrants in Southern CA, serving as a Health-Nutrition Extensionist with the Peace Corps in rural Guatemala, supporting international development activities in Central and South America, and developing online communications strategies and platforms to engage the Hispanic Market. This diverse career path has given her an in-depth understanding of the cultural, linguistic, and technical issues that need to be considered when developing online solutions for Hispanic audiences in the U.S. and Latin America. An avid Drupal enthusiast and presenter on online Hispanic communications, Carla is passionate about using new and innovative technologies, including websites, social media and mobile technologies, to effectively reach and engage these growing online and mobile communities.
