Kennedy Collie History | Flickr
My grandfather, Michael Kennedy, was a kennel manager for owner/breeders of Collies. He started his career at Knocklayde Kennels near Ardmore, PA. Knocklayde was owned by Thomas P. Hunter, founder of the Acme Tea Company. When Hunter died at age 54 in 1915, a number of his collies, and his kennel manager - my grandfather - were picked up by Mrs. Clara Lunt of Alstead Kennels in Rahway, NJ.
