My experiences as an electronic picture editor and photographer for The Miami Herald taught me to be flexible, dedicated and open-minded. I believe in the fundamentals of telling stories truthfully and honestly while looking for new perspectives on everyday events. I am also interested in multimedia journalism. I see the direction the industry has taken towards presenting stories online. Therefore, I have learned to shoot and edit video, create websites, and use Adobe Flash. In today's changing news environment, it's critical for journalists to see trends as they happen. We must do more than react to the changes occurring around us. We have an opportunity to shape the future of journalism, but only if we openly embrace new ideas and ways of thinking.
