Raj started his career with The Boeing Company in 1999 as an electrical engineer in the Avionics Branch supporting the International Space Station (ISS) and Shuttle Programs at Kennedy Space Center, Florida. In 2000, he was asked by NASA to serve as a Technical Integration Engineer on the Multi-Element Integration Test (MEIT) II. MEIT is a multi-component, multi-discipline integrated ground verification test designed to uncover mission and crew critical problems in the completion of the International Space Station. After two years supporting NASA and the successful completion of MEIT II, Raj moved to Post Production Support of the ISS as a transition lead for the NASA Payload Logistics Depot. He directed various teams tasked to transfer repair and maintenance capabilities from the Original Equipment Manufactures to the government depot. In addition to his normal duties, Raj continued to support the shuttle program as a Mission Specialist Engineer and performed the role of MS1 during orbiter testing and shuttle launches. In 2005, Raj’s knowledge and implementation of continuous improvement resulted in his assignment to a special team formed by the Program Manager to create a culture of continuous improvement at their site. This team received NASA’s Space Flight Team Award in 2007 for its successes in improving cost, quality, and schedule issues within the Payload Services Program. In 2006, Raj joined the Operations and Supplier Management Lean organization as a field consultant and currently leads the strategy team in charge of the Operations Best Practice Network for Integrated Defense System business unit.
