I'm a software entrepreneur, writer and blogger. I specialize in the Claims and Risk Management industries. In 1994 I founded MountainView Software and grew it into one of the most successful claims management software companies in the country. We sold MountainView to Gallagher Bassett Services in 2002 and I remained with the as Vice President of Sales and Marketing until 2007. In 2007 I founded a new company called Steve Schmutz & Associates, which offers software consulting and design services. In 2011 we launched ClaimCompass, the only First Report of Injury tool available for both web and mobile device reporting of First Reports. I'm an active writer and blogger - mostly about claims/risk management issues, and technology.
