After 18 years in journalism as a reporter and editor, I traded in my reporter's notebook and AP stylebook, for legal pads, The Bluebook and a pocket edition of Black's Law Dictionary. I sometimes miss the adrenaline rush from pursuing a breaking news story, and I most certainly miss a paycheck every two weeks, but what I've learned in just a year in law school is enough to convince me that I'm on the right path. This fall, I will be a teaching assistant to Prof. Kimberly Holst's Legal Writing class. I will also extern for U.S. Magistrate Judge David Duncan. This summer, I interned for Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Sally Duncan. Law practice areas I'm interested in include: Workers Compensation, Employment, Family, LGBT/Civil Rights, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Environmental, Public Policy/Advocacy, Criminal and Civil Defense.
