John Hoffoss is an IT security professional with the ability to communicate technical concepts with all levels of leadership within an organization. He's an excellent listener, learns quickly, and is continually looking to broaden his leadership experience and technical capabilities. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota, a CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), a GCIH (GIAC Certified Incident Handler), and has completed training in FAIR (Factor Analysis of Information Risk). John is currently building secure key generation and certificate authority services for Irdeto, a company focused on building technology to support the next generation of pay television services. Previously with Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, he worked to improve risk assessment and risk management practices for throughout the information security program. This included the pilot and facilitation of an information security assessment program to establish a security baseline of public two-year colleges and four-year universities in Minnesota. This program provided guidance and direction to remediate gaps in security systemwide. Building on the results of this program, he coordinated and developed an innovative training program, improving security education of the IT staff across Minnesota's higher education system. Before that, John was a member of the Information Security Services Group at LarsonAllen, a top- regional CPA and consulting firm. While there, he built the computer forensics practice, performed SAS and IT controls audits, and served as the technical lead for security consulting services.
