I am a customer-centered innovation and technology management executive with experience driving success in process innovation, new product development and new business development. I care about connecting organizations with the sources of innovation – both inside and outside the corporation – but also about accelerating commercial success. I am a practitioner, with experience helping companies execute both the “fuzzy front-end†of innovation and the “tortuous back-end†that drives business results. My areas of focus are: • Connecting clients with the sources of innovation – including customers, lead users, employees and innovation networks • Accelerating the time from concept to commercialization – “unplugging the innovation pipeline†• Successfully entering new and adjacent markets – especially managing the risks of new business incubation and • Capturing value from existing technology assets I am currently a Visiting Scientist at the MIT Sloan School of Management, working with Professor Eric von Hippel. My research interests include understanding the varieties of open innovation, including their strengths and weaknesses. I write and speak frequently about innovation, including customer-centered innovation, business model innovation, open innovation and finding new markets for technologies.
