I am a teacher and counselor by training, a writer by passion. The through-line in all my work is "soul". I believe a life lived passionately and authentically is a life well-spent. As a teacher, I train graduate students in counseling, undergraduate students in human services and women studies. I also provide corporate training in leadership and communication skills. Throughout my curriculum, I emphasize the value of human connection, authentic self-expression, and self-actualization. I strive to create learning opportunities where my students can engage in reflection and grow as people and as leaders. I have extensive experience teaching both in the classroom and online, and specialize in the incorporation of technology and social media in the classroom. As a counselor, I have focused my work on equine-assisted psychotherapy. Horses have an almost magical quality, and are able to bring out the best and worst in us. Clients find their time spent in the presence of horses both deepens and strengthens their experiences in counseling. I am currently seeking certification through EAGALA, the international leader in equine-assisted psychotherapy. As a writer, I bring readers back to their souls. Through a combination of memoir and self-help, I connect deeply with the authentic self, and create space for readers to explore their own deeply hidden needs, wants, desires, talents, fears, and dreams. In a world that is wounded, we need each person functioning at her best in order to bring about global healing. My aim is to connect authentically with each reader so she might better find her own path to wholeness.
