Cherif Benattia, MD brings 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry with solid expertise in Drug Safety (PV), Risk Management, Crisis Mgt, Risk and Crisis Communication. He left Vertex in June 09 and is back to consulting and teaching. He wants to dedicate his time to a new initiative “Patient Safety First”, not only to protect patients but also to prevent harm, through education and a better Benefit Risk Communication. Before joining Vertex, he was the Founder of APhaRC, LLC, a research and consulting company with a specialty practice in Risk Mgt (RiskMAPs and REMS), Crisis Management, Crisis and Risk Communication, Pharmacovigilance and Inspection preparedness. Before founding APhaRC, Dr. Benattia was the VP of Global PV Education and OC Support for J&J after being the VP of Drug Safety Operations and Information Mgt. Prior to J&J, Dr. Benattia spent 7 years at Pfizer mainly at the NY HQ where he held a variety of senior positions including Dir of Medical & Reg Affairs. He also served as Therapeutic Area Dir in the WW Safety Division. Dr Benattia has also a broad experience in humanitarian and philanthropic activities and has worked in Kenya with the Flying Doctors of Africa. He has supported and sponsored clinical research programs including AIDS and the Trachoma initiative. He is a frequent guest speaker throughout the world and teaches at Paris VI University and at the ESSEC business school on Risk Mgt and Crisis Management.
