At 25, April McMillan is an emerging photographer whose interested in many fields, Fashion & Beauty being first and foremost. As a native New Yorker, McMillan's variety of exposure to different cultural scenes continue to influence her angle of work. Her strong interest in the visual medium and the art of visual persuasion stems from her studies of advertising and fashion design. McMillan has an A.A.S degree in Fashion Marketing from CUNY's New York City College of Technology. She is currently attending Fashion Institute of Technology majoring in 'Photography', with two minors in 'Art History' and 'Film & Media Studies'. Most of April's in-studio sittings are conducted with a Canon 400D, however her personal assignments and street documentary are executed with a 1982 Canon AL-1 35mm, using B&W film. What motivates her to keep shooting is the idea that with a camera, reality can be amplified or completely fabricated. Ideas are brought to life and/or preconceptions are overturned. April McMillan currently conducts sittings at a local photo studio located in Chelsea, New York City.
