Boasting a bachelors degree in criminal justice and always a top of the class graduate, his undeniable intelligence takes his comedy to a new thought provoking level.The two time finalist and August 2009 winner of the Ice House comedy clubs Uncle Clyde comedy contest(earning him $500 and a weeks professional booking at the Ice House Comedy Club in Pasadena California) proved he was born to command an audience from the first time he graced a stage. Looking back on the countless times he would sneak and listen to his mothers Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor, and Bill Cosby albums, this direction in life doesnt seem that foreign to him.Being a basketball player all his life, winning both a National Championship and two State and CIF titles at California power house Dominguez High school, the athletic chapter ended with a division one NCAA scholarship run at California State University Long Beach, where in his senior year as Big West conference and tournament champions, the 49ers took on the University of Tennessee Volunteers in the first round of the NCAA Mens Basketball Championship tournament. That being said, Travon is no stranger to hard work, winning, and excellence. Ive won at least one or more championships on every team Ive ever played for my entire 17 year basketball career and very few people can say the same said Free of his athletic stent.Towering at 6'7 and clocking in at 250 pounds, one would wonder why you would give up a blooming career in sports. However, due to a torn meniscus in the middle of his sophomore season in Long Beach State, after snagging 19 rebounds in one game (6th place all time in school history), Travon was forced to miss a year and a half of ball play and soon discovered his stand up ability saying I had a year off so I wanted to focus on comedy writing because it was always a passion. Then my great student-athlete advisor Carol Barr pointed me in the direction of professor/writer Brian Alan Lane (Remington Steele, Star Trek, MacGyver, Matlock, ect.) who read my stuff and told me I was too funny to just write and made me take the stage. The rest is history.I remember recently lying in bed one night and I said God show me your vision for my life and as soon as I finished the sentence there was a 3.2 magnitude earthquake. That was the only sign I needed. Travon Free is here to shake up this world so buckle up your seat belts and make sure all your stuff is bolted down and tightly fastened.
