The Bill Murray Experience is a New York City based ensemble specializing in early American roots and jazz music. The core of the group features Jessy Carolina on Vocals and washboard, Jay Sanford on double bass, and Horatio Baltz on lead guitar. The Bill Murray Experience pulls most of its material from the American songbook, playing early jazz standards from the first half of the 20th Century, as well as more obscure and forgotten tunes that were apart of early American popular culture.Since April 2009, the Bill Murray Experience has released 3 full length demos as well as recorded 2 live sessions - one at the Jalopy Theatre in Red Hook Brooklyn, and another at The Mercury Lounge, in Manhattan. The songs featured on their MySpace page were recorded at The Mercury LoungeThe Bill Murray Experience was briefly featured on The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special 3D on Ice! in January 2010 playing their arrangement of the show's iconic theme song. Footage of the band playing the song in Washington Square Park was included in the opening montage along with other artists including Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, ZZ Top, The Roots, as well as others. The Bill Murray Experience currently holds a semi-regular residency at both Jules Jazz Bistro and The Greenwich Village Bistro in Greenwich Village, New York City as well as The Jalopy Theatre in Red Hook, Brooklyn where The BME regularly plays The Roots & Ruckus showcase.
