I've been a journalist for more than 20 years, having started as a writer on the community level to my most recent position as an editor at a nationally known journalism institution. Freelancing, as a copy editor and writer, is how I'm making my living these days as I search for more permanent employment. I am currently on the board of directors of Unity, Journalists of Color, Inc., representing the interests of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. Previously, I served for two years as a board member for NAHJ. I was the director of Region 2, representing NAHJ members from New England, New York and New Jersey. Specialties Writing is my first love; I became an editor to put food on the table. Journalism is my preferred method of making a living; there's nothing like the rush of working on an important story.
