Thanks to the popularity of TV show the Big Bang Theory, there is no shame anymore in admitting that I am a bit of a science geek and technologist. My current role, as an Entrepreneur in Residence at Baycrest Hospital, brings this all together with my MBA to identify and launch new innovations and products based on the research of Baycrests neuroscientists. On the commercialization side, I have experience getting budding technologies in front of angel capital investors and venture capital partners and associates. Where a licensing deal is called for, I am no stranger to contacting and entering negotiations with the Director of Innovation or Director of Research from a larger company. On the technology side, I had worked as a software developer at IBMs and Nortels Software Labs, with a small stint at Bombardier, where I developed, tested and installed new solutions for customers. For fun, I volunteer with the Canadian Technion Society in hopes of getting Canadian entrepreneurs and venture capital interested in some of the cool technology coming out of Technion. When inspired, Ill occasionally write something for the small business section of Canadas Globe and Mail national newspaper or give a talk on a topic of interest most recently on how todays innovations can be associated with events from Mesopotamia. A talk given to the Young Patrons Circle of the Royal Ontario Museum.
