What I Do I help non-US based tech startups get established in the US. I do this by providing hands-on support with building company operations in the US, including transitioning the headquarters and founders. My engagements cover the spectrum of intense hands-on operational support to the more typical advisory role as an independent board member. Why I Founded NSquared In my eight years as an investor at OpenView, I ran into many exciting companies based outside the US. Most of these companies were looking to enter the US, but had little experience doing so. Everyone knows that starting a tech company is quite daunting. What is more daunting is starting a company outside the US, and then having to go through another startup experience bringing it to the US. It occurred to me that what these tech startups need is the operational support to get the US team started, more so than an investment from a US investor. And so I decided to spin out of OpenView and Nsquared was born. So how did I get here In late , I took off my entrepreneur hat to become a VC as a founding member of OpenView Venture Partners. I invested in seven companies, all early expansion stage BB software companies. Playing the role of the investor gave me deep and broad experiences in funding and growing software companies. As an investor, I spent of my time working with my CEOs on helping them grow their companies. And with each investment, and with each day, I've learned more and more about the do's and don'ts of running and scaling a software company. Prior to OpenView was a five year startup experience as co-founder and COO of three ventures (eHook, eCompany, and eEye Digital Security). These years in the startup trenches gave me massive insights to how companies are started and grown.
