Female, 62 years old

Kaja Whitehouse is a personal finance reporter with Dow Jones Newswires. She is also a frequent contributor to The Wall Street Journal and she writes a regular health costs column for the Sunday edition of The Wall Street Journal. Kaja loves to help people take control of their financial lives. She enjoys breaking down seemingly complex topics - like taxes and estate planning - into simple terms that everyone can understand. She believes that everyone has the ability to achieve financial security if they just learned some very basic rules about money. Kaja's journalism career began in Beijing, China, where she moved after college to study Chinese and China's rapidly growing economy. To pay for her classes, she wrote leisure stories for expatriate magazines and worked. After a while, she landed a job as a copy editor for the China Daily. After two years in China, she returned to the United States. Her love of journalism brought her to Dow Jones, where she started reporting on the stock market and quickly moved to writing a column on personal finance. Kaja was raised in Freehold, New Jersey, as one of five kids. Today, she lives in Manhattan's upper west side with two cats and several fish. She spends her leisure time with her increasingly large family, or studying languages and practicing martial arts.
