Yi is currently a Director of Program Management at Oclaro leading teams across business functions to deliver sub-system level advanced optical networks solutions. He has a rich experience in technology development and product commercialization working in start-ups and large international corporations across multiple industries. Most recently, Yi was as Vice President of Project Management for Celeros, a bioprocess equipment start-up, at which he established and executed global project management strategies driving on-target deliveries of products to customers and internal projects across business functions. Prior to that, Yi served as the Vice President of Engineering at Dimensional Photonics International, now a subsidiary of Danaher making automated 3D optical digital imaging systems for industrial and medical applications. He was instrumental to the company’s start-up, growth, transformation, and successful business exit. Before that, he was VP of Technology / Business Development at PowerNetix, a start-up packaging high power optoelectronic devices. Earlier he was a Technical Director for commercial operations in China (Shenzhen, China) and a Director of Engineering for high power and high speed near-IR compound semiconductor laser chips and modules at Corning (Lasertron Unit, MA-USA). Yi started his industrial career with Lasertron before Corning's acquisition. Yi's research tenure includes postdoctoral fellow at Cornell University and as a staff in Chinese Academy of Sciences, both on advanced optoelectronic devices using compound semiconductors and nanofbrications. Yi earned his Ph.D. in solid state physics from the Institute of Semiconductors, Chinese Academy of Sciences (Beijing, China), and his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Optoelectronics) from Zhejiang University (Hangzhou, China). He has ten issued or pending patents and more than 45 publications.
