Author: Bill Hoyes America's Secret Pandemic - Preventable Medical Errors www.medicalerrorpandemic.com William Hoyes Abbreviated Biography Bill was born and raised in South Bend, Indiana where, after high school, he attended the universities of Corpus Christi, Texas and West Virginia on swimming scholarships. Upon completion of his education, Bill was drafted by the US Army for service in Vietnam during the infamous 1968 “Tet” offensive. After Vietnam Bill worked in marketing for two decades with two of the world’s leading pharmaceutical and medical equipment companies; Wyeth Laboratories and Ohio Medical Products (Ohmeda). This experience took him into virtually every department in over a thousand Midwestern hospitals. In 1979, he formed his own company, GMI, a medical environmental engineering firm that enjoyed contracts with half of the nation’s 6,000 hospitals. After his departure, Bill wrote, “The 650-page “OSHA Compliance Manual for Healthcare Facilities”, Aspen Publishers 2001. While enjoying his semi-retirement, Bill consulted with several of America’s top hospitals in completely re-staffing their facilities due to over-staffing and resulting financial distress. All departments were included in this endeavor. Through the years, Bill acquired great knowledge regarding the secret pandemic of preventable medical errors. His personal involvement in over half of our nation’s 5200 hospitals, (virtually every department), has made him keenly aware of “root cause” circumstances surrounding preventable medical errors to include industrial causes for healthcare’s continuance of this pandemic. William has five grown and highly successful children and enjoys his retirement years through writing, saltwater fishing, speaking and healthcare consulting. Bill, as a licensed IFR, high-performance & complex aircraft pilot, was the first to recommend and develop, for the hospital industry, the Aviation Safety Model, as the time-proven cure for the pandemic of preventable medical errors.Recently Added
