Astounding, one of the very greatest courses I have seen, and full of clever design work is what Golf Course Architecture Magazine called Wolf Point Club, a Nuzzo-designed, -hole personal golf course on the Gulf Coast of Texas. Other visitors to Wolf Point Club said The th green is probably my favorite on the entire course, which by the way is like trying to pick out your favorite Victoria's Secret model. After MUCH reflection, my round at Wolf Point was probably the greatest round of golf I've ever played. I've only experienced a similar feeling once in my life. "Wolf Point is the most natural looking golf course I've ever seen." My goals as a Golf Course Architect are to create enjoyable courses that inspire people to play. Design, construction and maintenance must work collaboratively for the project to turn out as good as possible, which should include economic sustainability. Construction and maintenance costs can be way too high otherwise - and usually are. The most important parts of designing a golf course are starting and finishing. Starting is the routing plan - the bones of a golf course, and finishing means managing every detail of the course through completion - even the perimeter or outside of the property. Communicating clearly with the team, especially the shapers, through both plans and the spoken word, is a process that takes extreme skill and patience - it is a very detailed vision that needs to be translated into the ground. Providing guidelines that enable adaptation in the field, thus giving the crew the autonomy for improvements, translates directly to very memorable golf.
