I am a serial entrepreneur who now works as a strategy consultant with established organizations and as a mentor capitalist helping promising entrepreneurs grow their companies. Over the years I have worked across a wide range of industries including BB and BC software, life sciences and biotech, government defense industry, manufacturing, supply chain distribution, agribusiness, and retail. I have worked in countries on five continents, with strong knowledge of emerging market economies and international business development. I have personally been involved in the early stages of a dozen companies, five of which eventually had an exit (two went public, two were acquired, and one was sold via an MBO) and have raised over M in venture capital. In addition, I helped launch a new enterprise software division within IBM and was a Manager in the Technology Consulting Practice at Ernst Young. Most recently I served for years as the Global Entrepreneurship Director for TechnoServe, an international nonprofit organization that specializes in economic development in emerging markets. At TechnoServe, I was responsible for providing growth services and developing access to finance for over , SME entrepreneurs globally. As part of this work, I played a leadership role in promoting womens economic development and female entrepreneurship in emerging economies. I serve(d) on the Aspen Institutes ANDE womens entrepreneurship task force, which I co-founded, am an advisor to the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), have worked with both the U.S. and a number of international governments and have advised a number of multinational corporations including Goldman Sachs, Coca-Cola, Nike, MasterCard, and Walmart, and the Clinton Foundation.
