Today’s post 9/11 environment makes it essential for security professionals to maintain currency with issues in the field. Security is a profession, and like other professions, it requires renewal of skills and knowledge development to be truly affective. I not only practice the profession, but also work diligently to achieve academic success and professional, international certification to ensure continuous personal learning and evolution in the field of security. Business and governments face risks every day from crime, cyber attacks, terrorism, natural or manmade disasters, pandemics, and disgruntled workers - the insider threat. Identifying, managing and responding to them is vital for the resiliency of any business or government entity. With the proper approach, security can provide a positive return on investment, grow a business’ bottom line, and create safer and more desirable environments for customers and employees alike. Constituents of local, state and federal governments demand the same results as do corporate shareholders.
