After serving as General Counsel to Texas Gov. Rick Perry, I have returned to Locke Lord Bissell Liddell as a Partner. I have broad experience in government and commercial litigation matters. I represent financial institutions, securities broker-dealers, and life insurance companies in traditional and complex litigation, and in arbitration proceedings. I also counsel businesses with matters before state government, and I represent businesses in litigation initiated by state attorneys general. I am a part of Locke Lords Litigation and Public Law and Governmental Affairs groups. As General Counsel to Governor Perry, my legal team and I advised the Governor and his staff on a variety of topics at the intersection of law and public policy. I also served as principal economic development advisor for the Governor, helping to administer the Texas Enterprise Fund, the Emerging Technology Fund, Texas One, and the other programs in the Governor's economic development portfolio. I began my legal career as a briefing attorney for Texas Supreme Court Justice Raul Gonzalez. I earned my undergraduate degree at Texas Tech University, and my law degree at SMU School of Law, where I attended as a Hatton W. Sumners Scholar.
