I am a flexible and motivated scholar with a passion for communicating the significance of the past and inspiring studentswider public to critically assess important connections between the past, the present, people place. I am a trained historianarchaeologist with an interdisciplinary outlook that integrates approaches from across the arts, humanities, sciences social sciences. My expertise is the history and archaeology of Roman Britain and the Near East (especially Jordan), but my research also seeks to explore the long-term legacy of the classical world by investigating the re-use, re-imagination, reception of Roman materials, monuments, texts concepts up to the present. I am also interested in classical concepts of place, space time, especially the classical practice of chorography, which I have begun to explore in recent peer-reviewed publications. My PhD thesis tackles the Antonine Wall in Scotland, challenging the currently-dominant approach that defines this monument based on its Roman military identity circa AD this challenge is offered by rejecting an artefactmonument approach to the Wall in favour of a transdisciplinary perspective that reframes the Wall as a present-day place, drawing on developments in humanistic geography, Foucaults archaeologygenealogy the chorographic tradition. This has raised a range of alternative significances and historical episodes that augment the Walls Roman identity, laying the foundations for more expansive multi-period research agendas. This research has contributed to the forthcoming Antonine Wall Research Framework, and I have a number of related publications in preparation. I have a strong passion for teaching across Ancient History Archaeology, and have experience delivering teaching excellence in academic and non-academic settings in the UK and USA. I am actively seeking a full-time academic position in research and research-led teaching in Archaeology andor Ancient History.
