I have been creating and designing jewelry since high school. Starting out I spent almost twelve years working for jewelry stores and manufacturers. I can't thank them enough for the knowledge and skills that they have taught me. It has been over ten years now since I began my own business. While a student at Gustavus, I studied religion, focusing on Buddhism and inter-religious dialogue. My thesis, titled "Total Kenosis, True Shunyata, and the Plerotic Self of Thomas Merton and Abe Masao" received national recognition, earning the Albert Clark Awardand publication in the Journal of Theta Alpha Kappa. I graduated summa cum laude in 2005.I have been a member of Web Services since January of 2002. As the Technical Web Coordinator, I design and build web-based applications for the campus community. I enjoy crafting elegant and intuitive user interfaces and thinking about things like information architecture and typography. I am always looking for ways to use innovative technologies on the web. My work for Web Services was featured as a prime example of good information architecture in Information Architecture for the World Wide Web, Third Edition (O'Reilly, 2006).I am addicted to creating things, so my hobbies tend to be creative in nature. In 2008, I was an Assistant Director for a massively collaborative social film project directed by Spike Lee. In my spare time, I maintain a photography website called Shifting Pixel where I experiment with a variety of photographic techniques and styles.
