I served in the United States Army for 3 years after I graduated from high school. After the Army, I studied at the University of Iowa. After college, I was hired on to John Deere, a Fortune 500 agricultural equipment company. I started off as a Web Content Analyst at Deere in charge of a John Deere parts ordering website creating and updating web content. I learned how to update the content by writing raw HTML. After this position, I was moved to an Electronic Communications (e-Business) Specialist position where I was in charge of all digital communications for the marketing and advertising department. I was the lead for a major redesign of a John Deere website that focused on home and workshop products that customers could use in their business. I was in this job until divisional changes resulted in my departure from the company.
