This is the story of how I tripped and fell into the A/E/C industry, discovered my passion, built my career and started my business. In May 2001, I graduated college and moved from Boston back to Connecticut. I submitted my resume in response to a classified ad in the Hartford Courant seeking an entry level marketing professional for an ENR Top 500 Design firm. I didn't know what ENR was, but Top 500 sounded promising. I admit - there was a moment where I questioned my place in an office full of civil engineers and CADD technicians. They spoke a language that I didn't understand. I could've bailed to try something else, but instead I asked questions - lots and lots of questions. I started picking things up as I went along, and I never looked back. I have been in the industry for 10 years, and truly enjoy what I do for a living. I have significant experience in corporate communications, marketing and business development in the built environment, having held positions with regionally prominent architectural, engineering and construction firms. I have strong interpersonal and client relationship management skills. I enjoy helping people and building productive partnerships with customers and partners. I am accustomed to wearing a variety of hats and I love a challenge. I enjoy the thrill of the chase. I would like to believe that I could sell ice to an Eskimo, but that's debatable. In July 2010, I surrendered to the entrepreneurial urges that I had been quelling for years and made the decision to start my own business. I have been enriched by great experiences and people along the way. My first year has been a great one - and here's to many more to come.
